“Lets Go Run 26.2 Miles for Talk About Curing Autism”

Team TACA H2O Continues to Strive Towards Raising Funds and Awareness for Talk About Curing Autism “Lets Go Run 26.2 Miles for Talk About Curing Autism”

Tigard, Oregon (PRWEB) September 11, 2010 – Tigard community member Scott Rowley will run the Portland Marathon this year on 10-10-10 to raise funds and awareness for Talk About Curing Autism (TACA). Scott’s goal of this event is to finish in a time that gains community attention and allows him to compete in the Boston Marathon, while keeping in mind the thousands of children he is helping that are effected by autism.

“This fund-raiser has been motivated by a strong desire to do something positive for our community and help families affected by autism in the state of Oregon,” said Rowley.“ This is not the first run at non-profit fundraising that Rowley has helped with this summer.

On July 7, 2010 Sammy Carlson, Scott Rowley, Drew Bryant, Brian Dalrymple and Craig Gruenewald left Hood River, Oregon on the journey of a lifetime. Their mission was to ride their bicycles from Hood River Oregon to Ogden Utah in ten days. They ended up pushing what is mentally and physically possible by riding 850 mile route in eight days. All proceeds from ride and the Portland Marathon will benefit TACA, enable them to establish a chapter in Oregon and continue helping families affected by this disorder.

Talk About Curing Autism (TACA) provides support, education, information, and resources to over 18,500 families across the United States effected by autism. One in every 91 children in the United States is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. TACA provides the largest national telephone and email response team for parents who have a child affected by autism. 95 percent of TACA's programs and services are provided at no cost to parents. They include education and support meetings, parent mentoring, and the Autism Journey Guide. TACA aims to speed up the cycle time from the autism diagnosis to effective treatments. TACA helps to strengthen the autism community by connecting families and the professionals who can help them, allowing them to share stories and information to help people with autism.
